Wow, wow, wow... what a show.

My wife got us tickets to this show for Christmas as his UK dates sold out, we chose his song 'Found' as our first dance song at our wedding, so we were also hoping to see it live, so we decided to make a weekend of it!

If you've ever asked yourself what to do in Copenhagen, I can't recommend Vega enough as a venue to visit. They have some great artists playing there year round and the sound quality is simply fantastic. Plenty of space to move around inside the immaculate, wood panelled main hall, and 2 long bars so you're never far away from your next pint.

The show's opener was London based artist Amie Blu. A familiar British accent in a room full of Danes, and what a gorgeous voice it was. I hadn't heard of Amie before the show, but I have had her new single 'swimming in pity' in my heavy roation ever since. A fantastic performance full of emotion, beauty and soul. Other stand out tracks were 'no spine' & 'everything about her'. You'd think they'd been around for years given how they held the stage with only their guitarist for support!

Don't let the soft vocal tones and jovial demenor fool you though, Amie is one to watch following the release of her debut album 'how we lose' in July 2024 on 0207 Def Jam Records. I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for UK dates once the tour with Jacob comes to an end!

The main event. From the moment he took to the stage I was completely blown away by the power in Jacob's voice. I've obviously listened to his music before, but hearing it live was simply stunning. A calm controlled performance from start to finish, very little chatting between songs, just letting the music do the talking like a true professional.

That's not to say that there weren't moments where you could dance, his track 'Celebrate' got everyone moving. But moments like this were juxtaposed with beautiful, slow ballads like 'Slow Up' & 'Found'. Seeing 'Found' live had my wife and I in floods of tears, for obvious reasons, and my shaking iPhone photos don't really do the show justice. You can relive a live performance of his on Spotify from 2024, which I've included below;

If you can get tickets to any of his remaining tour dates, you won't be disappointed. It makes you wonder how an artist this good isn't a complete global phenomenon. Or maybe they've designed it that way.

That's not to say Jacob Banks hasn't had his successes. He's got a plethora of well performing EPs, Singles & Albums, alongside an array of publishing deals in his discography, including being featured on 2 EA FIFA soundtracks (15 & 19), the Game of Thrones soundtrack, and soundtracks for other TV shows such as Suits, The Resident & BBC's The Responder. Couple that with over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and a collaborations list that reads like a festival line-up, I think he's got enough on his plate to worry about without concerning himself with being a superstar.
