Metal, Heavy Rock, Screamo, whatever you want to pigeon-hole them as, Bring Me The Horizon have been delivering incredible, heavy music since 2004 with the release of their debut 4 track EP ‘This Is What The Edge of Your Seat Was Made For’. Over the years they’ve refined their sound into a mix of their roots and a more chart-friendly sound, with this cover being no exception.

Did anyone else have a BMTH cover of Oasis on their 2025 Bingo Card? Because I certainly didn’t, but what an absolute smash.

They’ve taken the Brit-Pop classic and turned it into a prime-time metal riot. Oli’s signature mix of clean and screamed vocals, backed by a barrage of chuggy riffs and pit-inspired breakdowns.

I’ve followed BMTH since the release of their debut album ‘Suicide Season’ in 2008. Eagerly anticipating their next release each time because, to me, at the time it was groundbreaking. I’d never heard anything like this before, which is the exact same feeling I got when my mate Dan sent me the new cover on WhatsApp.

They’ve taken a classic and flipped it into something no-one would’ve seen coming in a million years. Let’s also not forget that it got the approval from LG himself as well, an accolade in itself.

You can listen to it below, and I wholeheartedly urge you to;

On the subject of covers, there’s a couple of others I want to share because they flip the original so well.

The first, José González’s cover of ‘Heartbeats’ by The Knife. Originally released in 2002. The Knife are a Swedish electronic music duo, so a far cry from the soft, sombre tones of José’s cover. Probably most known for featuring on the Sony Bravia advert with the bouncing balls cascading down a San Fransisco street, it’s a shining example of how a song can be reimagined into something incredible.

And the other (I might add more when I think of some) is Alex Melton’s cover of ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay. Released in 2023. He’s taken the classic and turned it into an Emo/Pop-Punk ballad. Which, arguably, I prefer to the original. But that’s because I’m not the biggest fan of Coldplay, even though you can’t deny their success and mass-appeal, and I’m a closeted Emo at heart.
